Porchlight is the largest non-profit provider of affordable housing in Madison, with 350 units across 26 sites, ranging from single room occupancy (SRO) units to family units with 1-4 bedrooms.

Porchlight’s largest property is at 306 N Brooks St, which also houses its administrative offices.  Brooks Street has permanent SRO units with shared kitchen and bathrooms for low-income single adults.  Prospective tenants should complete the Porchlight Housing Intake Form (en espanol) and return it to:

Porchlight also has housing programs that specialize in working specifically with Veterans and individuals with mental illness.

Half of Porchlight’s housing units are filled directly from our community’s Coordinated Entry list.  Individuals and families who are currently experiencing homelessness may be assessed and referred to this list by visiting the Coordinated Entry office at The Beacon or by speaking with Coordinated Entry staff at the Porchlight’s Men Shelter or the Salvation Army shelter for single women and families.

Supportive Services

Porchlight strives to provide individuals and families with safe, affordable, stable housing.  Case management is offered to residents to ensure that they receive the level of support they need to remain stably housed.  Porchlight offers a variety of supportive services, and case managers work one-on-one with individuals and families to help them achieve their short- and long-term goals.
