Porchlight A Helping Hand, Not a Handout

Volunteer With Porchlight

Volunteers are an essential part of Porchlight. They work closely with our residents, support our programs, and raise awareness and funds in the Madison community. Visit VOLUNTEERYOURTIME.ORG for details.

Serve a Meal at our men’s Shelter!
Porchlight is still desperately searching for a group of volunteers to purchase, prepare and serve the evening meal at the Men’s Drop-In Shelter starting January 2018.  Several dates open in 2018 for evening meal or breakfast. This is a great opportunity for faith organizations, families, or community service groups. To learn more about what this entails, email Karla at kthennes@porchlightinc.org.

Share Your Holidays! Become A Porchlight Angelangels inside
We begin recruiting for this program in September of each year. Give the gift of hope to those most in need this holiday season. Join together with your family, coworkers or friends to sponsor an individual or family this year. You’ll be matched with a “Wish List” that contains a few suggestions-all under $30. You choose to sponsor a family or just a single resident. This support means so much to those in our housing and shelters; for some, it may be the only gift they receive this holiday season. Email our Porchlight Angels Coordinator here for more information and to sign up!

One-Time Opportunities

Volunteer Donation Projects
Description: Create “Welcome Home Baskets” or gather “Cans for Kindness”. “Welcome Home” baskets help newly-housed families and individuals feel prepared and comfortable in their new homes. These families need the most basic items, such as cleaning supplies, bedding and kitchen items. Cans for Kindness go to our food pantry and various resource locations for those in need. Please email Jessica Mathis for more information.
