Volunteers are an essential part of Porchlight. They work closely with our residents, support our programs, and raise awareness and funds in the Madison community. Visit VOLUNTEERYOURTIME.ORG for details.
Serve a Meal at our men’s Shelter!
Porchlight is searching for a committed group of volunteers who are available to buy the food, cook the food and serve the food to 120 men at the Emergency Drop-In Shelter in winter 2018. This is a great opportunity for faith organizations, families, or community service groups. To learn more about what this entails, email Karla at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sample for Porchlight Products
Volunteering for Porchlight Products is a great way to combine your love of helping others and delicious food. Sampling will involve beginning a 3 to 4 hour shift at the Porchlight Products kitchen. Shifts are typically late afternoons, early evenings, and weekends. Volunteer will then go to a scheduled site with one or more Porchlight Products to sample. To learn more about this opportunity, read the PLP Sampler Position Description
Volunteer Donation Projects
Description: Gather and assemble donations needed for “Welcome Home Baskets” or “Cans for Kindness”. Reach out to community groups, offices, family or friends to collect donations for “Welcome Home” baskets which help newly-housed families and individuals feel prepared and comfortable in their new homes. These families need the most basic items, such as cleaning supplies, bedding and kitchen items. Cans for Kindness go to our food pantry and various resource locations for those in need. Please email Jessica Mathis for more information.
Share Your Holidays! Become A Porchlight Angel (October-December ONLY)
We begin recruiting for this program in September of each year. Give the gift of hope to those most in need this holiday season. Join together with your family, coworkers or friends to sponsor an individual or family this year. You’ll be matched with a “Wish List” that contains a few suggestions-all under $30. You choose to sponsor a family or just a single resident. This support means so much to those in our housing and shelters; for some, it may be the only gift they receive this holiday season. Email our Porchlight Angels Coordinator starting in October for more information and to sign up!
